There is a certain laissez-faire approach to London Fashion Week. With such a diverse combination of established and emerging UK and international designers presenting collections, London Fashion Week has inevitably finished with high distinction proving that Autumn/Winter fashion needn’t be bleak. A colossus of talent, over five fashionable days have prepared us for the future of this years fashion, from the ecclesiastical to the artistic and even the somewhat whimsical. The foundation of all, Pattern-cutting, was at the cutting-edge, to pardon the pun. A twist on structure, highlighted the technicality which designers brought to the catwalk with pattern manipulations, artistic forms and details, accentuating the simplicity of pieces, forming creative three-dimensional works of art creating uniquely wearable garments. J.W.
