As successor to the master, Peter Copping’s debut collection for the Oscar de la Renta brand, made beautiful headlines for a beautiful tribute at New York Fashion Week.
Earlier in the year, Chelsea Clinton payed her respects to Oscar de la Renta at the CFDA Awards, just two years after she awarded him with his fourth award from the CFDA. His ties with The Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall, make New York Fashion Week, a very special place for the designer, and his body of work, to receive such high regard. It also seems fitting, that Peter Copping keep the magic alive for the life’s work of the great master.
“Oscar de la Renta was a wonderful designer, a true artist, a Renaissance man. His voice will continue in our hearts, his optimism and love of life inspire us. We will miss him.”–Diane von Furstenberg, President of CFDA
Oxford-born Peter Copping and Central Saint Martins and Royal College of Art graduate, has, from his studio work at Lacroix, to artistic directing and creative directing, risen to the challenge. But one can only assume, that Copping never envisaged the de la Renta collection, as almost his own. It’s a beautiful tribute and an accolade in which Copping himself should be proud of. It is also a collection in which every woman, most certainly can dream of wearing.
